LARGE BATCH
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 pkg yeast
- 1 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup soft unsalted butter
- 7 to 7 1/2 cups flour
SMALL BATCH
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 pkg yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup soft butter
- 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 cups flour
Recipe:
- Dissolve yeast in water. Add milk, sugar, salt, egg, shortening and 1/2 of the flour.
- Mix until smooth. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Knead 5 minutes
- Let rise in greased bowl until double, about 1 1/2 hours
- Punch down
- Let rise again until almost double, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400ยบ
- Shape into 1 1/2 in balls and place in a buttered cake pan, not touching. Let rise 15 to 20 minutes

Bake 12 to 15 minutes
These are the standard rolls I made for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I now make this in the processor
This is a good dough for sticky buns
