Bananas Flambeed with Rum

Ingredients:

6 servings

  • 2 oranges- grated peel of one orange, juice of 1 1/2 oranges
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 stick unsalted butter
  • 5 TB Grand Marnier
  • 5 TB rum
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 pints strawberries
  • 6 bananas, peeled

Recipe:

  1. Melt butter, add sugar and orange peel. Pour in orange juice and lemon juice. Add Grand Marnier.
  2. Boil a second or two, then add bananas, basting, until warmed through and the sauce is almost a caramel.
  3. Add rum and carefully ignite with a match, taking care to avert your face from the flame.

Notes:

Serve one banana with sauce garnished with sliced strawberries.
