Baked Vidalia Onions

In Advance:

Preheat oven to 400ยบ

Ingredients:

  • 4 vidalia onions of similar size
  • 2 TB balsamic vinegar
  • 2 TB water
  • 1 TB butter
  • S & P

Recipe:

  1. Peel onions, cut off tops and bottoms thinly and evenly
  2. Place onions in buttered baking dish.
  3. Coat cut tops of onions with balsamic vinegar, dot with butter and S&P
  4. Pour water into baking dish under onions
  5. Bake for 45 minutes. If water evaporates, add more during cooking

Notes: I’ve done these, covered with saran wrap, in the microwave when I’m in a hurry or the kitchen is too hot to use the oven. Wrapped in foil, you can even put them on the grill.
